Misfits Irrelevant

Sources: Irrelevant promoted to Misfits LEC team

The talent factory continues to deliver

Misfits Gaming will promote top laner Joel “Irrelevant” Miro Scharoll to their League of Legends European Championship team, sources told Upcomer on Monday. Top laner Shin “HiRit” Tae-min will swap positions with him and play for Misfits Premier in the French Ligue Française de League of Legends.

Sources said one reason the organization promoted Irrelevant to the main team is his work ethic, and the amount of effort he put in while playing for Misfits Premier. The German top laner also had great performance on a variety of champions. For example, he averaged a +13.4 creep score differential at 15 minutes this spring in the LFL.

This is not the first time that Misfits promoted players from the European Regional League to their main team. Iván “Razork” Martín Díaz, Mertai “Mersa” Sari, Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié and Lucjan “Shlatan” Ahmad are all players who got their first shot in the LEC thanks to Misfits. Shlatan also played for Misfits Premier in the LFL before being promoted for 2022.

Misfits signed Irrelevant at the end of 2021 for a total of three years, an uncommon duration for ERL players. This spring split, he played for Misfits Premier in the LFL. With Misfits Premier, Irrelevant managed to reach fourth place during the regular season — but a loss against Vitality.Bee in the first round of playoffs prevented them from qualifying to the European Masters.

HiRit will take Irrelevant’s spot in the LFL, which was always Misfits’ priority this offseason. However the player had the possibility to explore offers both in the LEC and the League of Legends Championship Series. With that in mind Misfits had considered other players for their LFL team, with top laner Felix “Kryze” Hellström as one such possibility.

Misfits Gaming’s LEC team finished third place last split, with G2 Esports eliminating Misfits in round 3 of the playoffs. Top lane is the only change that Misfits have made for their summer split.
