GameWard have come to a verbal agreement with top laner Dawid “Melonik” ÅšlÄ™czka, jungler Philippe “Akabane” Le, mid laner PaweÅ‚ “Czekolad” Szczepanik and support Kamil “Kamilius” Košťál for their 2022 season in the Ligue Française de League of Legends.
Czekolad previously played for Excel in the 2021 League of Legends European Championship Spring Split before joining MOUZ in the Prime League for the summer, where his team finished second in the regular season. He played alongside Kamilius at MOUZ, and the duo decided to look for a team to join together.
Meanwhile, Melonik and Akabane are also joining as a duo from Berlin International Gaming, fresh off a victory in the PRM Pro Division 2021 Summer Playoffs. Melonik is one of the best European prospects in the top lane and the second Polish player for this newly formed GameWard roster. Akabane, meanwhile, will reunite with GameWard’s new, planned coaching staff of Malaury “Malau” Restouble and Nicolas Perez, according to Esportmaniacos. The three spent time together as members of Karmine Corp.
GameWard still have to lock an AD Carry, and sources said they’re looking at options that have played LEC previously. However, League of Legends free agency officially opens at 7 p.m. ET on Nov. 15.
