The Weatherlight saga gave us tons of memorable Magic: The Gathering characters. Hannah, Jhoira, Mirri, Urza, Karn, and many others are favorites whose legacies have left a lasting impact on the game and those who play it. One of those characters is Captain Sisay, and today, she returned as a brand new card in the Modern Horizons spoilers to shake up Commander as Sisay, Weatherlight Captain!

Breakdown
Sisay, Weatherlight Captain looks designed for Commander. For 5 mana of every color, you get to tutor any legendary permanent card from your deck. That permanent has to have a converted mana cost equal to Sisay’s power. This drawback is offset by the fact she gets bigger for each legendary permanent of a different color you control.
The major question is, how do you build around Sisay? I’m sure there are some combos out there that make her fetch 7 costed legends right away. For now, though I’d like to focus on making her an extremely value-oriented commander focused on Legendary Tribal.
Niv-Mizzet Reborn could be a great choice for this deck, letting you draw a ton of cards and instantly maxing out Sisay’s power. Multicolor legends are good in general in this deck, such as Arvad the Cursed or Raff Capashen, Ship’s Mage. You may also consider boosting her power with cards like Blackblade Reforged, or even powering her up faster with Leyline of Singularity. Then you can start tutoring up really huge cards, say maybe a Nicol Bolas, God Pharoh?
With so many options to choose from, Sisay, Weatherlight captain is sure to be an exciting build around for Commander players. Legendary Tribal has always been a fan favorite, and now there’s a commander to support it! What do you think about Sisay? Is there an essential combo piece we forgot? What cards do you plan on putting in her deck? Let us know down in the comments below!
