Riot Games’ developers have announced that a League of Legends MMO is currently in the works. The Vice President of IP and Entertainment at Riot Games, Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street, broke the news Thursday evening, exciting fans throughout his Twitter comments.
I have news!
My recent job at Riot has been to help develop the League universe, which we’re going to need!
Because it is time. My new job is to kick off a big (some might say massive) game that many of you, and many Rioters, have been asking us to create.
PS We’re hiring

A League of Legends MMO
Ghostcrawler teased his Twitter followers of some news in the League of Legends universe. “My new job is to kick off a big game that many of you, and many Rioters, have been asking us to create.” As soon as he published the post, thousands of fans liked and commented, asking for more details.
It is an MMO

One commenter asked if it will be an MMO, and if she’ll be able to pick her character’s physical traits. Soon after, Ghostcrawler and Riot Games Game Producer Sara “Riot Necrotix” Dadafshar confirmed more details on the project. Necrotix even suggested that she’s been pitching the idea to Riot for the past two years.
I have been working on random mmo pitches and sending them to our cto/r&d office for the past two years, I cannot deny TuT but def the work of many passionate people who want to make this happen just as much as I do. Can't wait to be a part of it.

The League of Legends universe expands
At the moment, there aren’t any further details on the development of the MMO. Riot might have already teased the game back during the 10-year anniversary announcement, as they teased an upcoming League of Legends RPG. This RPG might be the project that Ghostcrawler is currently working on.
Last October, Riot announced the addition of a few new games, such as Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, Wild Rift, and Valorant. Each game released this year has gotten impressive reviews, and they plan to continue the creative development beyond the League of Legends IP. Overall, Riot has a pretty good turnaround when it comes to releases, and fans may possibly receive some updates at the start of the new year.
