Riot announces League of Legends champion prestige skins for 2021

The champion list for prestige skins has doubled this year

Riot Games has extended Prestige Points from 2020 to through the end of 2021 and announced the doubled lineup of League of Legends champions receiving prestige skins. The last prestige shop will open up in December. Players will have access to the full set of skins from 2020 and 2021 there.

League of Legends gets extra champion prestige skins

The company has updated the skin and release schedules because it pushed back a content update slated for late 2021. Some employees who were part of that content team were moved around, causing the delay. Riot is aiming to make up for the setback with extra prestige skins, according to the announcement.

“It’s the right call to make sure we get as much out to y’all as possible across all Riot’s games, but it means we’re pushed back again into 2022,” The announcement said. “This is more of an inside look than we usually provide, but given our repeated challenges, we want to be as clear as possible with you about what’s going on.”

Players will be able to earn and purchase prestige skins for these champions and specific skins:

  • Space Groove Lulu
  • LeBlanc
  • Kayn
  • Brand
  • Volibear
  • PROJECT: Sylas
  • Ruined Pantheon
  • Lunar Beast Fiora
  • Morgana
  • PROJECT: Zed
  • Conqueror Jax
  • Battle Academia Leona

Players who complete both 2020 and 2021 event pass milestones will have earned 400 Prestige Points towards these skins.

Content update: Mythic Content Overhaul

The announcement also went into detail about the content update that prompted the changes. The update will be titled Mythic Content Overhaul and is based around Mythic tier skins. The Gemstone and Hextexh skin system will also receive an overhaul. Gemstones will transition to a new currency, themed after the Mythic line, and will have more content centered around the system.

The system will also give players the ability to unlock a prestige skin without spending money, but over a long period of time according to the announcement.
