After much anticipation, gaming event RGB LAN has announced official dates. This year’s RGB is the fifth consecutive year the event has been held, and this year the organizers are ramping up the fun. RGB 5 LAN is a three-day long BYOC (bring your own computer or console) and video game charity event held June 26 – 28, 2020 in Philadelphia, PA.
Fragging for charity
RGB 5 LAN is not just about coming together for a weekend of gaming, fun, and friends. Charity is near and dear to RGB’s heart. In fact, one of the most important themes of RGB is the idea that gamers can unite and work towards a better community.Â
At the start of the LAN, attendees and competitors choose between three color groups to support — red, green, or blue. Each color group is associated with a particular local charity. Teams then gear up for weekend-long Overwatch, Fortnite, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Rocket League (and more!) tournaments. Every winning team is not only rewarded with a fantastic prize, but the charity they choose to represent also receives a generous donation on behalf of RGB 5.Â
However, winning tournaments isn’t the only way to ensure charity receives donations. Every time a raffle ticket is bought or attendees tweet to sponsors, points are given to your chosen color group, which unlocks charity donations.
More than just a gaming LAN
RGB LAN 5 will take place alongside massive gaming convention TooManyGames 2020. TMG is known as the longest-running video and board game convention in Pennsylvania. Purchasing tickets to RGB gives attendees access to all that TooManyGames has to offer. Famous guests such as Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter and Charles Martinet, who voices legendary Nintendo characters like Mario, will be attending TMG 2020. Not to mention there will be video game concerts, hundreds of vendors, cosplay contests, board game tournaments, and panels. The convention is inclusive and family-friendly.
