Report: Xyp9x joins gla1ve on the leave at Astralis

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

According to a report by DBLTP, Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth has decided to go on a temporary leave. As things stand, Astralis’ CSGO squad is missing a player. The team’s coach, Danny “zonic” Sørensen, will step in to take Xyp9x’s place on the roster temporarily until another player is found to fill Xyp9x’s shoes.

Astralis left without a player

The nature of Xyp9x’s leave is currently unknown, but more information on the status of the CSGO lurker will likely emerge in the coming days. For now, Xyp9x has followed his teammate’s footsteps, as Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander has gone on medical leave due to experiencing symptoms of “stress and burnout.” However, in gla1ve’s case, the team had Jakob “JUGi” Hansen handy to replace him on the roster.

JUGi has stepped in for gla1ve on the Astralis roster.

The sixth player that Astralis has already signed, Patrick “es3tag” hansen, is set to join the Danish CSGO giants on July 1, as he is still contracted to Heroic. Reportedly, efforts to have him transfer sooner have failed. Furthermore, the report states Astralis has inquired about Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson’s availability, as the player has been benched by Ninjas in Pyjamas very recently, but no agreement has been made there either.

Another instance of burnout?

Astralis is yet to comment on the situation. However, Xyp9x’s reasons for the leave may be similar to those of gla1ve. Continually playing at the highest level in professional Counter-Strike can put significant stress on one’s mental well-being; that’s one of the reasons why Astralis decided to expand its roster to a whopping seven players. Knowing that Astralis was not in possession of the seventh player, however, leads one to believe that Xyp9x’s reasons to take the unexpected leave may be serious.
