Reports: FaZe Clan plan to sign ropz in place of olofmeister

The star rifler ends an almost five-year tenure with MOUZ

Robin “ropz” Kool, who is set to leave MOUZ, is in advanced talks with FaZe Clan to join their roster and reunite with former teammate Finn “karrigan” Andersen, according to reports from Dexerto and 1pv.fr. The star rifler is expected to join the team when his contract with MOUZ expires in 2022.

A previous report from 1pv.fr indicated that ropz was split between joining G2 Esports and FaZe Clan. G2 are in the midst of a deal to sign 16-year-old Natus Vincere Junior AWPer, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, according to 1pv.fr.

As he prepares to leave MOUZ, ropz ends an almost five-year tenure with the organization formerly known as mousesports. The 21-year-old Estonian star joined the team in April of 2017. Since that time, the team has won a handful of significant tournaments including ESL One: New York 2018, CS:GO Asia Championships 2019 and ESL Pro League Season 10. Recently, the team has struggled to find their form.

In his professional career, ropz has accumulated approximately $540,000 in prize money. He has finished in the HLTV top 20 rankings three times: No. 19 in 2018, No. 10 in 2019 and No. 7 in 2020.

Joining FaZe Clan, the expectation is that ropz will replace Swedish Counter-Strike legend Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer Gustafsson, who has been in and out of the FaZe roster over the past three years. Ropz would also be reuniting with in-game leader karrigan, who he played with for two years on mousesports.

According to reports from 1pv.fr and Dexerto, MOUZ plan on promoting players from MOUZ NXT, their academy team in place of ropz. MOUZ NXT have found consistent success in the Tier 2 scene, peaking at No. 26 on the HLTV world rankings. They won the WePlay Academy League Season 1 and Season 2. Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás and Dorian “xertioN” Berman are considered forerunners for promotion to the main roster.

If the addition of ropz goes through, FaZe Clan’s 2022 roster is expected to be:

  • Håvard “rain” Nygaard
  • Helvijs “broky” Saukants
  • Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken
  • Finn “karrigan” Andersen
  • Robin “ropz” Kool
  • Robert “RobbaN” Dahlström (Coach)
