PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile and Riot Games have announced a crossover event based on the League of Legends animated series, Arcane. According to both game developers, this crossover will bring Runeterra to life on the Erangel map.
“Runeterra is one of the most beloved universes in gaming, and to be able to bring that magic to PUBG MOBILE while also supporting the release of Arcane is an amazing opportunity,” Vincent Wang, head of PUBG mobile publishing, said in the partnership announcement. “We’ve got a lot in store for our players with the Version 1.7 update, including some completely new gameplay features we’ve never experimented with before, so we can’t wait to show off more.”
PUBG earlier teased this crossover with an image showing four silhouettes of LoL characters with a caption of “PUBG Mobile X ?” Fans speculated that the shadows shown belonged to Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn and Jayce who are all main characters in Arcane.
What to expect in PUBG Mobile x Arcane
All Arcane content will release in batches on PUBG Mobile, starting in mid-November as part of the game’s Version 1.7 update. While there are no specific details on what is coming to PUBG, players can expect an authentic celebration of Arcane to Erangel. PUBG Mobile players can also expect not only League characters, but items and locations based on Arcane.
The League characters coming to PUBG may include the already-teased silhouettes of Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn and Jayce. Also, the second teaser of Jinx suggests that she will be in Erangel. The first release in mid-November will contain several airdrops with Arcane items.
Furthermore, this crossover will feature new game areas and gameplay modes based on Arcane. There are no mentions of the event extending to other maps like Miramar, Sanhok and Vikendi. The PUBG Mobile X Arcane collaboration also comes as the first in-game partnership between the two games. More details on the crossover will be revealed with the Version 1.7 update.
