After Pokémon Trading Card Game fans turned out in droves for a special promotional event, The Pokémon Company International has announced it will print more of the product to meet the increased demand.
McDonald’s is currently giving away a special set of 25 Pokémon cards to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary in Happy Meals. However, the promotion turned out to be so popular that stores are quickly running out of stock. This has led to people scalping the cards to turn a profit. The Pokémon Company International is aware of the shortages in cards and plans to print and distribute more.
“We’re aware that some of you are experiencing difficulties purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game products due to very high demand and global shipping constraints impacting availability,” The Pokémon Support site said in a statement on Tuesday. “We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are working to address it where it is within our control.”

The company said it will print more cards “as quickly as possible and at the maximum capacity to support this increased demand.” While there is no firm timeline for when retailers will receive the second printing, the company expects their arrival as soon as possible.
There will be more Pokémon TCG limited-edition cards coming later this year in a special set similar to Pokémon X and Y Evolutions. The set will include classic cards from the original base set.
