Battle Stadiums in Pokémon Sword and Shield

There are 10 different Battle Stadiums in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

  • Turrfield Gym
  • Hulbury Gym
  • Motostoke Gym
  • Stow-on-Side Gym
  • Ballonlea Gym
  • Circhester Gym
  • Hammerlocke Gym
  • Wyndon Stadium
  • The Battle Tower
  • Online Battle Stadium

You can choose between every gym and stadium in the games except for the Spikemuth Gym, which trainers can’t Dynamax in.

How to choose your stadium background

Which Battle Stadium you get in ranked depends on your League Card. You can edit your League Card by visiting the Roto PC in any Pokémon Center. The Roto PC is to the left of the main desk. When you visit the PC, select “Use Card Maker” and then select “Make a new League Card”. This is where you can choose your stadium.

You will see several different backgrounds to choose from. Which one you select will determine which Battle Stadium you get in online play. If you choose a certain city theme, you will get that stadium. For example, if you choose a Hulbury background, you will get Hulbury Gym. If you select a theme that isn’t related to a city, you will get the standard online stadium.

Keep in mind that you will not always get your chosen stadium. When an opponent is found online, the game will randomly choose between one of your stadiums. This means that you should get your chosen stadium in roughly half of your matches. So, don’t be surprised when you wind up on a stadium you didn’t select. Be sure to choose your favorite stadium and enjoy your battles!
