Pokémon: New Wild Area event features G-Max Duraludon and others

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

A new Wild Area event is coming to Pokémon Sword and Shield and will feature Gigantamax Duraludon and other Gigantamax Pokémon in Max Raid Battles. Along with these Pokémon coming to raids more frequently, Gigantamax Machamp and Gengar will be rotating out.

Pokémon appearing more frequently in raids

Along with Gigantamax Duraludon, Gigantamax Charizard, Copperajah, and Garbodor will also be appearing more frequently. While these Pokémon typically only appear in specific rare raid dens, during this event they will appear in any den in the Wild Area.

To get this update, open the main menu and select “Mystery Gift.” Then navigate to “Get the Wild Area news.” This will update all the raids in the Wild Area so that they spawn the new event Pokémon. Search for the red beams of light and go check out the dens!

The previous Wild Area event is still active

Keep in mind that a previous Wild Area event is still active. Gigantamax Machamp and Gengar are gone, but there are still other Pokémon from the Pokédex Completion event. This includes version exclusives that are spawning more frequently in raids.

This means there is a decent chance of running into a raid with one of the older event Pokémon. The raids reset each day at midnight, but they can also be reset by doing every active raid in the Wild Area. Players can also find event raids by using Wishing Pieces, which they can get for 3,000 Watts from Watt Traders.

Of the new Pokémon coming to event raids, only Gigantamax Charizard is competitively legal as of right now. It is likely that the others will be legal in May when a new Ranked Battle Series begins. For now, make sure to get out there and take advantage of this limited-time event! Happy hunting trainers!
