Players will be able to connect Pokémon Scarlet and Violet with the monster storage app Pokémon HOME next week, The Pokémon Company announced via Twitter on Thursday. The cross-game connectivity will begin when Scarlet and Violet are updated to version 3.0.0 on May 24 at 9 p.m. ET.
Following the upcoming patch, trainers will be able to transfer Pokémon between HOME and Scarlet and Violet. All trainers who do so will be able to receive the Generation 9 starters — Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly — with their Hidden Abilities in the mobile version of the app.

The new update will also give trainers the chance to transfer Pokémon from previous games into Scarlet and Violet as long as those Pokémon exist in the games’ code. For example, Roaming Form Gimmighoul, which was previously a Pokémon GO-exclusive, will become available in Scarlet and Violet for the first time. Similarly, compatible Pokémon from older games that came through Pokémon Bank can enter the Paldea region for the first time.
In addition, players will be able to transfer Pokémon from Scarlet and Violet to previous Nintendo Switch games as long as those Pokémon exist in the older games’ code. Trainers will be able to transfer their monsters among the following games that are compatible with Pokémon HOME:
- Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!
- Sword and Shield
- Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
- Legends: Arceus

How to connect Scarlet and Violet to Pokémon HOME
When you open up the main menu of Pokémon HOME, you can select the “Pokémon” icon near the top of the screen to open up a list of compatible Switch games. After May 24, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will appear on this list.
Upon clicking on Scarlet or Violet, you will see two boxes: one for your Pokémon HOME storage and one for your boxes in Scarlet or Violet. From this screen, you can simply move Pokémon from one box to another. This method will allow you to move Pokémon freely from several games into Pokémon HOME and then back to other games.
The Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon HOME features a built-in Move Relearner that will enable you to customize your Pokémon’s movesets before transferring them to a different game. Keep in mind that not all moves are available in every Pokémon game, so you may be required to change your Pokémon’s movesets before sending them to a different game.
If you transfer a Pokémon from an older game to Scarlet and Violet, it will not be able to have a unique Tera type. Instead, its Tera type will be one of its existing types just like a typical wild Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet.
