Today is Feb. 6, which means that it is Mewtwo’s canonical birthday. It is unclear how old the Legendary Pokémon is, but diaries in the original games confirm that this is indeed his birthday.
Mewtwo is one of the most iconic Pokémon in the franchise. It was the endgame Legendary way back in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. It has since made appearances in the anime and in the live-action film, Detective Pikachu. Mewtwo has also appeared in Pokémon GO and the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

Players can find Mewtwo’s birth date in the mansion in Cinnabar in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. There is a diary that states, “Feb. 6 MEW gave birth.” There are also other diary entries that discuss Mewtwo’s birth and escape from the laboratory.
Mewtwo in the franchise
In the original games, Mewtwo can be found in a cave in Cerulean City after defeating the Elite Four and becoming the champion. He is level 70 and is kind of the “final boss” of the game.
Mewtwo makes his next appearance in the core game series in Pokémon X and Y, where he can be mega-evolved into two different forms. He then appears in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon when battling Team Rainbow Rocket’s leader, Giovanni.
Mewtwo appears in Pokémon GO as an ex-raid boss and a five-star raid boss. He also received a special armored form in the popular mobile title. He is notably one of the best options in the game for battling in Raids.
This iconic figure has certainly made its impact on the world. It is recognizable by most people, even if they are not fans of the series. Today is the day we can celebrate Mewtwo’s in-game birth and all that it has done for the franchise as the original non-human villain who had a change of heart.
