After a week of speculation, Overwatch's 31st hero has finally been announced. According to the official Overwatch twitter account, Sigma is “an eccentric astrophysicist who hopes to unlock the secrets of the universe."

In the two-minute video on his origin story, we find out that Sigma has committed his entire career to solving what he calls “the harness of gravity.” As one of the experiments goes awfully wrong, the video jumps through different timelines and potentially different realities. At times chained up to a stretcher and confused, at others in a white coat and inquisitive, or in a full combat suit and combative, Sigma seems to be multi-dimensional in every sense of the word.

While the abilities are currently not known, we can expect Sigma to be a tank hero that uses manipulation of gravity as his weapon.

On twitter, the community has taken to prodding the video for more information. @ow_mayo has played the clip in reverse and at the very start of the video, we indeed hear a voice scream “release me”, once again playing into the theme of the hero.

Twitter user @OverwatchNaeri even shared a video of Sigma inside the game. The video shows Sigma summoning two contained black holes into existence.

During past hero announcements, hero abilities followed shortly after the origin story so fans can expect them to be release some time this afternoon.
