Chan-hyung "Fissure" Baek has officially retired from the Overwatch League, revealing shortly after Seoul’s announcement that the league will transition to a 2-2-2 role lock system. But before then, the Seoul Dynasty continued to embrace their then 12-man roster through implementing two to three major roster shifts. Fissure split his playtime with fellow Main Tank Min-seo "Marve1" Hwang after not seeing much play in Stage 2.

In one of Fissure’s last interviews at the Blizzard Arena, he shared his thoughts regarding Overwatch’s latest map Havana, hus distaste for a 2-2-2 role lock, and his goals, at the time, for Stage 3. Many of his comments make even more sense within the context of his retirement.

Congratulations on your victory over Florida. Having been on both an English speaking roster and an all Korean roster, do you think the Mayhem switching to an all Korean roster will make a positive difference?

I think it’s good to unify the language. It doesn’t matter if it’s English or Korean, but to be able to do so will be good for them.

Havana is the newest map played in the Overwatch League. What is your process for mastering a new map?

As a team, we were trying to find which spot is good to do specific things and how we can move around on the map. As a player, I’m trying to find places where I can show my skills. The challenge that Havana has is that it’s not very good for attack in general. If you are on escort maps, you always have to utilize the second floor. But if the defense gets the high ground, you cannot do much from there. My favorite portion of the map is Point 3 where it has wide areas.

The next patch coming out will see major buffs to McCree and to bunker composition heroes. Do you think that this will be a positive change for the game?

I think instead of looking at McCree, we’ll have to look at D.Va because the distance of her defense matrix has been shortened. I’m not sure if GOATS meta will change, but we will have to look carefully at D.Va.

There were rumors of a 2-2-2 role lock being used. Would you be in favor of this change?

I think a 2-2-2 role lock would be the worst decision that could happen. I understand that they’re trying to kill the GOATS meta, but they’re not able to do it with balance patches. I think it would be better to create a ban rule where you could block key heroes that create this GOATS meta. That might be a better choice.

Which heroes would you ban?

It depends on the team I’m going against. If they’re really good at GOATS composition, then I would ban Brigitte. If I have a team with really good DPS comps then I would ban Wrecking Ball or their key DPS hero.

Do you have any goals for the rest of the stage and the season?

I am not expecting that much. I don’t care about playoffs. I just want to finish this stage with 5 victories and 2 losses.
