Overwatch leaked to be coming to Nintendo Switch?

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Overwatch may be coming to the Nintendo Switch after all as a recent leak might suggest. A listing on Amazon showed an official Blizzard and Nintendo-licensed case for Nintendo Switch consoles with an Overwatch theme. With Diablo III releasing on the Switch last year, Blizzard and Nintendo aren’t strangers and Overwatch could be a part of their continuing partnership.

While the item was quickly delisted, it’s still real. Further adding to speculation of an Overwatch-on-Switch theory is a post in a Reddit AMA by game director Jeff Kaplan two years ago. Jeff said, “I’m loving the Switch! My second favorite gaming platform of all time is the 3DS. Getting on the Switch is very challenging for us. But we’re always open minded about exploring possible platforms.”

Further speculation

Users on Twitter and Reddit have already begun speculating further. Could Overwatch allow for special control schemes utilizing the Joy-Con motion controls? Could the case not actually be for Overwatch but the much rumored and speculated “Overwatch 2,” which rumors suggest may be announced this year? (Probably not.) The biggest hype has been around the possible inclusion of Tracer or D.Va as a character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which has no actual basis in fact at this time. Speculation began with leaks around Tracer last year, but a recent supposed leak on 4chan as reported by Dexerto has suggested it may be D.Va instead.

The leaks have fans of the series and uninitiated Switch users hyped up, and only time will tell if they play out to be true. If the leaks are true, we’ll likely get confirmation at BlizzCon in November of this year.
