Overwatch League tokens return for the 2021 season and are accessible through watching games live on YouTube or YouTube Gaming.

After the calamity that was the 2020 season, tokens took almost the entire season to be implemented into the new YouTube broadcast of the Overwatch League. Now for the new season, it’s easy to connect your Blizzard account and YouTube account to earn tokens quickly. Not only are more tokens being given out than in previous years, but even more rewards will be coming soon.

How to connect your accounts

Since this is a new system, the way to connect your accounts to get tokens is different than before. Of course, you’ll need a Blizzard account and a YouTube or Google account to start. After that, the easiest way to connect your accounts is by going to your settings on YouTube. From that starting page, you should see a section named “Connected Apps”.

The Battle.net connection is the one you need to use to connect your Blizzard and Google accounts. Click it and sign in with your Blizzard account to form the connection. For those who have the issue of “switch to your personal account,” that means you have to use your original YouTube account as opposed to a business or an account with an alias to earn these tokens.

As of this season, earning Overwatch League tokens is only possible through watching YouTube on the computer, on the YouTube app for mobile devices, or for picture-in-picture viewing. There have been no updates so far if this will be implemented for third-party apps or the YouTube app for TVs and other devices. Tokens should arrive in your account within 48 hours of the time you viewed the stream.

Much like previous seasons, tokens aren’t the only returning rewards for viewing the newest Overwatch League season. So far, the newest rewards revealed have been a classic gray and white Overwatch League skin for watching the first tournament, the May Melee. Plus, a new skin is part of a giveaway to viewers for each tournament. If fans have collected every tournament-based skin, they also obtain an exclusive fan-designed spray. If you want to see when the tournaments are, check out the schedule.
