With the Overwatch League just around the corner, Blizzard has announced that fans can earn rewards in a unique way. The first game of the year will be hosted by Dallas Fuel and New York Excelsior. Here, fans will be able to unlock exclusive team sprays just by attending the event. The announcement was made via the Overwatch League Twitter.

Throughout the duration of the season, the sprays will be released in batches. It has been revealed that there will be 10 teams per batch. Batch 1 includes the following:

  • New York Excelsior
  • Dallas Fuel
  • Houston Outlaws
  • Philadelphia Fusion
  • Florida Mayhem
  • Shanghai Dragons
  • Guangzhou Charge
  • Washington Justice
  • Hangzhou Spark
  • Seoul Dynasty

That means Batch 2 will feature the following:

  • London Spitfire
  • Atlanta Reign
  • San Francisco Shock
  • Paris Eternal
  • Toronto Defiant
  • Boston Uprising
  • Vancouver Titans
  • Los Angeles Gladiators
  • Chengdu Hunters
  • Los Angeles Valiant

To gain access to the team sprays, fans must simply attend a home match. Attendees can access and redeem a total of 10 sprays — the whole batch of sprays — by attending a game for a team that corresponds to their batch. For example, if you attend the first event hosted by Dallas Fuel, that team’s spray will be redeemable, as well as the nine others in batch 1. At the event, fans will receive a code in person that can be redeemed on Battle.net to unlock this unique in-game feature.

This special feature is beneficial to the esports scene, and fans will be eager to showcase their support for their favorite team. This is because it will encourage more people to physically attend events, rather than tune in online. Also, this will lead to an increase in awareness and popularity for the esports scene, which a multitude of games such as Overwatch aim to promote.
