North American Overwatch Contenders team Revival has revealed its starting roster for the 2020 season. On the new roster, two popular Overwatch streamers, Becca “Aspen” Rukavina and Francine “Fran” Vo, are featured in the support role. The other four players include tank players Tim “Manneten” Bylund and Clyde “Bogur” Wylde and DPS players Jack “Reyzr” Francis and Luka “Aspire” Rolovic.

North American Overwatch team Revival was founded by Justin “reprize” Hand after the former Mayhem Academy team disbanded. However, Justin “reprize” Hand later left for an assistant coach position on the Overwatch League franchise Los Angeles Valiant. In the newly revealed roster, many of the previous Mayhem Academy players are now nowhere to be found. Only Manneten is left from the former shell. Bogur also remains on the roster, but he joined in July from Nocturnal Esports.

Revival enters the 2020 season after a dead last finish in Season 2 of Overwatch Contenders in the North American West region. With the transition to home and away games in the Overwatch League, Contenders has also gone through changes. There are three sections in Season 3, with Overwatch Open Division, Trials, and finally Contenders. However, the team will have to go through a preliminary double-elimination bracket tournament to first determine seeding. The top four teams will advance to the quarterfinals, while the bottom four go into Contenders Trials.

Aspen & Fran on Revival

Se-yeon “Geguri” Kim became the first female player in the Overwatch League. On the condition that the team manages to qualify, Aspen and Fran could become the first female players in Overwatch Contenders.  This is because there are already many female players in Open Division, with even full female rosters in the past. The two have a large social following on Twitch and Twitter with history as content creators.

Female Overwatch players often face scrutiny over skill level, and harassment is common in games. An incident involving a male Overwatch player named Punisher who pretended to be a female player for attention didn’t make it any better. Can Aspen and Fran prove their skill in the Overwatch Contenders league to respond to the doubters? Let us know what you think, and keep up with Daily Esports for all of your Overwatch coverage.
