The OpTic Gaming roster has made a crucial change in their lineup with the replacement of Ismail “refrezh” Ali with René “cajunb” Borg. The news was announced by the in-game leader of OpTic Gaming, Mathias “MSL” Sommer.
MSL finds cajunb to be a great fit for the team
The TwitLonger post by MSL suggests that the team enjoyed playing with cajunb in the past and simply cannot have two players of very similar play style players on the team. MSL also thanked refrezh for his effort and wished him all the best. All the same, the team feels that cajunb is a very composed and stable player and therefore decided that this would be for the best for the team moving forward.
I am super excited to be back on a team! I will from now on play with the @OpTicGaming guys. We are in search of an organisation so if interested, feel free to contact us at [email protected]

The newcomer was previously on the Cloud9 roster for a brief period of three months, following his inactivity at OpTic. Cajunb has returned, however, and will now be officially replacing refrezh on the active roster.
OpTic’s roster future still uncertain
Despite being a very talented roster and qualifying for ESL One New York after an impressive qualifier showing, the players’ future is still hazy. The OpTic Gaming brand has been acquired by Immortals Gaming Club. This creates a conflict of interest as Immortals now owns two teams, the other being MIBR. MSL stressed that in order for the roster to succeed and move forward, three more players need to be bought out of their contracts from OpTic Gaming, including he himself.
Whoever acquires the roster will definitely have a very talented lineup as the team has singlehandedly qualified for ESL One New York and will appear at the upcoming ESL Pro League, ECS, as well as DreamHack Masters Malmo. The question is — what are the buyout prices of the players, and who cares enough to invest into the lineup?
