New York Subliners look to acquire John and HyDra after missing out on Fero

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The New York Subliners appear to be the next Call of Duty League team to make a series of roster moves. After seeing both Dillon “Attach” Price and Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi go to Minnesota, two spots were open on the roster. However, the team announced that world champion James “Clayster” Eubanks will join the team for 2021. So this means that now two spots are vacant. Well, it seems that won’t be the case for long. According to sources, both John “John” Perez and Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez are joining the roster for the 2021 CDL.

John and HyDra on the way to the New York Subliners?

This is a bit of a surprise move, as neither John nor HyDra were a part of the Call of Duty League in 2020. John was seemingly outcast for reasons unknown, and HyDra was making his way up the amateur ladder.

John, a former MVP, finished the 2019 season on Luminosity Gaming but then was simply never offered a CDL spot. Many were confused as to why this was, but it seems now teams are once again asking for his services. HyDra, on the other hand, was an amateur in 2020 competing for TrainHard Esports. He didn’t play a whole lot in 2020, but he is considered one of the top amateurs heading into next season.

There’s currently no news on who would be the starter for the New York lineup. With Clayster joining both Tommy “ZooMaa” Paparatto and Mackenzie “Mack” Kelly for 2021, there’s only one roster spot open. So either John or HyDra could start if both are signed.

However, this is reportedly not the way the Subliners wanted to go. In a report from a CDL insider, New York actually wanted to sign Maurice “Fero” Henriquez for 2021. Although, the Subliners and the Florida Mutineers weren’t able to make a deal work. So it seems Fero will remain on Florida with Owakening, Skyz, and Havok.

We’ll have to wait and see if this report comes to fruition. Make sure to stay tuned to Daily Esports for all CDL news.
