S1mple and co. will face the following teams during the event in The Windy City:
- Astralis
- MIBR
- FaZe
- mousesports
- Liquid
- Renegades
- fnatic
- BIG
- NRG
There are still six total vacant spots to be filled via open qualifiers. Two teams from Europe, one from Asia, North America, and South America will join the battle for the $250,000 prize pool. Additionally, one unknown slot that has yet to be explained by the organizers is waiting to be filled.
Following Intel Extreme Masters’ transition to another city in the United States, the previous being Oakland and Atlanta, thus far, the caliber of invited teams is immense. Additionally, the teams span the whole world with the best of the best from each region.
Renegades will want to show off Australian Counter-Strike, while MIBR hopefully will show its fans some American flair. Team Liquid is yet to win a major event this year and therefore will definitely be out for blood on home turf. FaZe will want to stir things up with its full squad with olofmeister’s return. Meanwhile, Astralis is looking to get yet another win after having an unbelievable year.
We are yet to see all the teams that will attend IEM Chicago. The qualifier stage spans over the second half of August.
