Modern Warfare updates adds Shipment and 1v1 Gunfight

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

The first Modern Warfare update of the new year is here, but it’s not a full-fledged title update. Instead, it’s a playlist update, which adds some new maps and modes to the game. Infinity Ward has talked more about these issues on social media lately, but this update doesn’t feature fixes to those problems.

Still, fans do see the return of Shipment and Gun Game along with the introduction of 1v1 Gunfight. Shipment has changed to 5v5 this time around, most likely due to the atrocious spawns. Let’s take a look at today’s playlist update and the community’s reaction.

Shipment, 1v1 Gunfight a part of today’s update

While the community was hoping for a more substantial update, the return of Shipment is appreciated. What isn’t appreciated is the fact that Infinity Ward keeps swapping Shoot House and Shipment with each other. It seems like every update, one replaces the other. Many are wondering why Modern Warfare can’t simply have both maps in separate playlists.

By far the most popular maps, Shipment and Shoot House have both seen 24/7 playlists but never at the same time. Perhaps Infinity Ward could change this for future updates, but don’t expect it anytime soon.

Along with Shipment, 1v1 Gunfight was introduced. This is just like standard Gunfight, but you’ll only face one enemy. 2v2 Gunfight remains as an option for those who don’t enjoy 1v1 gameplay.

Lastly, Gun Game returns to Modern Warfare, replacing Grind. Gun Game as a game mode in Modern Warfare leaves much to be desired, but it is nice to see more party modes. Hopefully, Infinity Ward can introduce additional modes, like One in the Chamber, in the future.

Other than that, it doesn’t look like any other changes were made. The community can only hope that a bigger update is coming in the next couple of weeks.
