This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Activision has posted a new blog that has some fantastic news for the Modern Warfare community. According to the publishers, the community has raised $1.6 million for Australian Relief efforts. The continent was ravaged by fires late last year, and Activision made the decision to donate player’s purchases to a direct relief charity. Any player who purchased the Modern Warfare Outback Relief Pack in the past month was donating directly to this charity.

The donation period is over as of last week, and now Activision has made the total numbers known to the public.

Modern Warfare players help out Australia

When the Outback Relief Pack was announced in-game, there were no plans to donate to Australia relief efforts. However, after an outcry from the community, Activision reversed their course of action.

Since that reversal, fans have complied in kind. There’s been a huge amount of support for this pack and the donation efforts for Australia. We now know the exact amount of support given, however, as Activision revealed in its blog.

Thank you Call of Duty community. Players and fans worldwide have come together to raise more than $1.6 million dollars through the purchase of the “Outback Relief Pack.” Sales of the pack ended Friday, January 31st. These funds will help provide relief toward the devastating bushfires in Australia.

This is the total number from every Outback Relief Pack purchased in Modern Warfare. All of the money from these sales will go to a Direct Relief foundation. Here’s what Direct Relief President Thomas Tighe said about the efforts: “This was an astounding act of generosity on the part of Activision and the larger Call of Duty community, and we at Direct Relief are deeply grateful.”

A tremendous effort by the Modern Warfare community, this should help Australia quite a bit.
