As the summer draws closer, Call of Duty fans know the next title will soon be revealed. Activision has remained fairly tight-lipped about Modern Warfare 2, which is a direct sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare. However, thanks to some leaks from trustworthy insiders, fans now have a better idea of where and when Modern Warfare 2 could be officially revealed to the world.
Modern Warfare 2 reveal coming soon
According to one of these insiders, @RalphsValve, Activision is planning for MW2 to be revealed at the Summer Games Fest on June 9. This is an annual event hosted by Geoff Keighley that highlights some upcoming games that are mostly releasing in the fall. Of course, Call of Duty is included in that slate of games and has been showcased at this event before.
Mark your calendars for June 9th, Summer Games Fest.

They claim that the audio from the reveal will leave fans “in absolute awe,” which is certainly a bold claim. In a follow-up tweet, the insider goes into a little about what fans can expect from the reveal. They say that the reveal could include some gameplay demos and raw gameplay, which is also what host Geoff Keighley said in a video describing this year’s Summer Games Fest.
We're getting ready for a big #SummerGameFest LIVE on June 9!

It’s unclear exactly what Activision is planning to show, but fans can likely expect a cinematic trailer and some gameplay to be showcased. This might also include a release date for the game, which is currently rumored to be on October 25, 2022.
If fans are hoping for some kind of Warzone event to participate in, they might be disappointed. Unlike in previous years where the next mainstream title was actually revealed through Warzone, Activision seems to be solely focusing on a demo of some sort at the Summer Games Fest.
Of course, all of this information could change in a month’s time or RalphsValve could have their details wrong. Fans should always take leaks with a grain of salt. However, more often than not, these insider leaks turn out to be correct. Call of Duty players will simply have to wait until June 9 to see what happens.
