Michael B. Jordan steps into the esports business

Those who follow Call of Duty are likely aware Jordan is a big fan of the franchise. His social media has often shouted out the series over the last decade. The actor even starred in a live-action trailer for Call of Duty Black Ops 3, alongside Cara Delavigne and Marshawn Lynch. Now, Jordan has decided to take his passion further by seriously involving himself in the game’s esports scene.

Jordan joins the growing ranks of celebrities dipping their toes into the esports business. Canadian pop musician Drake is a co-owner of 100 Thieves, alongside music industry executive Scooter Braun. Former NBA player Jonas Jerebko is the owner of Renegades, a CSGO team that recently acquired a new lineup. With the esports market becoming bigger each year, we can likely expect more actors, sports stars and celebrities will take an interest in investing.

And as for Andbox

The organization that’s scored Jordan’s support, Andbox, has some other notable names behind it. Major League Gaming founders Michael Sepso and Sundance DiGiovanni also have a stake, along with New York Mets owner Sterling VC. Andbox already has its own Overwatch team, New York Excelsior, and will expand into Call of Duty next year with the New York Subliners, with talent like Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi and Attach “Attach” Price.
