Yesterday, Twitch banned xQc for stream sniping during GlitchCon 2020. Today, they decided to ban other popular streamers for their role in xQc’s actions. Lucas “Mendo” HÃ¥kansson, Rabia “Nightblue3” Yazbek, David “GrandPOOBear” Hunt, and Turner “Tfue” Tenney are all receiving disciplinary action for their role in the event.
Twitch states that these streamers “were cooperating with xQc in stream sniping and attempting to affect the play of the opposing team in violation with tournament rules.” While none of them participated in stream sniping themselves, they were involved in the incident.
On further review of GlitchCon, we have found that, in addition to xQcOW, players Nightblue3, Mendo, GrandPooBear, & Tfue violated our conduct rules. Their actions will result in a disciplinary action from Twitch Rivals & for all but Tfue, a temporary suspension from Twitch. pic.twitter.com/b2gaqxHpcI

The punishments for Mendo, Nightblue3, and GrandPOOBear
Nightblue3, Mendo, and GrandPOOBear will all receive a six-month ban from Twitch Rivals along with xQc. All four of them, along with Tfue, will forfeit all GlitchCon 2020 prize winnings for having knowledge of the stream sniping incident.
In addition to the above punishments, each streamer will get a temporary Twitch account suspension. This means that they won’t be able to stream any content for a short period of time. We know xQc’s ban will last seven days from yesterday.
What I did had no impact on the outcome but it was wrong. Sorry again, I wasn't trying to cheat out of malice I was just trying to entertain. 7 days suspension for now. Ride like lightning, crash like thunder. Go agane. PS: Give my winning to charity and i'll match it pic.twitter.com/48hgZQoyg0

xQc owns up
The first to receive a punishment, xQc has already responded to his ban, stating that he knows what he did was wrong but that he didn’t intend for it to be malicious. He also stated that if his prize money is given to charity, he will match the amount.
The suspension for xQc will last seven days, and it’s likely that Nightblue3, Mendo, and GrandPOOBear will face similar suspension lengths. Twitch banned xQc three times previously, however, so his suspension may be longer than others.
With all these bans, Twitch is making it very clear that they will stand by their rules. If you break them, they will punish you regardless of who you are or how popular you are. Hopefully, this will get the message out that cheating isn’t acceptable and it won’t happen again in the future.
