League of Legends now has one of the biggest credit card companies connected to them. According to a new announcement, Mastercard has been named “the exclusive financial services partner” of the LCS. It won’t just have a presence at events, either – Mastercard is also launching a new video series campaign.
This five-part series will feature League of Legends players from around the world and focus on how these players are doing good things at the community level. You can catch these new videos over the next six months. The first of them, which you can check out below, features Stephen “Snoopeh” Ellis, a retired European legend.
It doesn’t end there, however. According to Riot, if you are a Mastercard cardholder, some sweet deals are headed your way:
Mastercard will offer select cardholders a wide range of unforgettable experiences such as backstage tours, VIP viewing with League of Legends pro players, and meet-and-greets with featured musical act, Jax Anderson.
While only “select” cardholders will get these offers, it’s still a neat partnership with one of the biggest games in esports. Makes you wonder if Fortnite, Overwatch, or Apex Legends could do the same thing someday.
During the next LCS split, Mastercard will also sponsor the LCS Player of the Week Award. For those watching, if you can correctly guess who will be named LCS Player of the Week, you could earn yourself a reward.
Keeping up the relationship
This is clearly a way to get viewers more engaged with their favorite pro players as well as great PR for Mastercard. Mastercard and Riot already had an initial partnership in which Riot made Mastercard a global sponsor for League of Legends esports as a whole, and this seems like a neat evolution of that relationship.
If you’re interested in Mastercard’s video series, make sure to keep an eye on their Twitter and YouTube channel.
