After months of debate, Riot has officially announced Cloud9 jungler Dennis "Svenskeren" Johnsen as the recipient of the coveted 2019 LCS Summer Split Honda MVP Award.

The three-time LCS champion has been heralded as easily the best performing jungler of Summer. After being voted onto the First All-Pro Team, the other members being the entirety of Team Liquid less Jake "Xmithie" Puchero, he was seen as a clear front-runner to win the award. Even Liquid support Yong-in "CoreJJ" Jo cast his votes over to Sven.

Since coming to North America to join TSM in 2016, Sven has been the center of both high praise during his moments of greatness and immense criticism for his mistakes. Since joining Cloud9, he's been able to find success outside of LCS titles such as a top four finish at the 2018 World Championship. With this award, he's officially shaken off the nickname of "Brother Sven" that was initially coined by fans as a meme poking fun at his random deaths in the enemy jungle.

On Sunday, August 25 at 1 p.m. PDT, Svenskeren and his teammates on Cloud9 will contest Team Liquid in the 2019 LCS Summer Split Finals in hopes to usurp their throne and disrupt their streak of winning titles.
