Team Liquid barreled into the Mid-Season Invitational final with a 3-1 victory over Invictus Gaming, and everyone—well, everyone besides League of Legends Pro League fans—is having a field day. For Team Liquid staff, LCS fans, LEC fans, and the players themselves, Liquid’s upset victory is the perfect chance to break out a smorgasbord of spicy memes and devastating smack talk. Here’s some of the best.

Liquid wants to go all the way

Many pundits in the esports world are already calling this result the biggest upset in League history.

But Team Liquid isn’t satisfied. After all, they’re not the first North American team to have made it to the MSI final; that honor went to Counter Logic Gaming in 2016. In a tweeted reply to Duncan “Thorin” Shields, Liquid staff made it clear they want to ride this wave one step further and win the whole event.

If the Liquid players’ longing glances at the trophy following their IG victory were any indication, they certainly agree.

Doublelift remains a troll

Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng immediately jumped on Twitter after Liquid’s win this morning, posting an amusing quip that called out all the haters who predicted an Invictus sweep.

With this win, Team Liquid might finally put the infamous fourth-place meme—one invoked by rivals as recently as yesterday—to rest. Perhaps Doublelift even anticipated sending an apologetic tweet after today’s match, and his post was a lighthearted acknowledgment of the adversity Team Liquid has faced in the past.

Incorrect translation makes Rookie look salty AF

The League world was briefly abuzz with controversy this morning when it was reported that Invictus mid laner Song “Rookie” Eui-jin talked some serious smack against Team Liquid in his postgame press conference. Thanks to a translator fumbling a double-negative, English-language reporters were told that Rookie had said that Team Liquid didn’t play any better than they did in groups, implying that Invictus’ loss was entirely the result of the LPL team playing below expectations.

But all’s well that ends well: As it turns out, Rookie did praise TL’s improvement, though he did (fairly) blame part of the loss on a lackluster performance by Invictus.

Jensen gets roped into smack talk

We all know that Doublelift is the premier shit-talker of the LCS. But in his postgame press conference, he brought Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen into the action.

“Jensen’s going to body him,” Doublelift said of a potential match up against Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok in the final. And, I mean, he has a point., since Jensen did play out of his mind in the semifinal match. But with G2 Esports showing their chops against SK Telecom T1 in the group stage, a TL–SKT final is far from guaranteed.

G2 is thrilled

Speaking of G2, their social media manager was having a blast with this morning’s proceedings. The organization briefly changed their Twitter profile picture to an image of the Team Liquid logo, posting gleeful memes in support of the LCS champions throughout the morning.

It’s fair enough that G2 is excited—a final matchup against Liquid is vastly preferable than one against iG.

The fans are spitting hot fire

The r/leagueoflegends postgame thread is blowing up, with 7,700 comments and counting. Here are a few of the most quality burns below:

You don’t need to be a Liquid fan to realize that this is one of the most unexpected results in League history. I’m saying this as someone who has only ever felt neutral about TL in the past: This is fucking awesome. Though the final will be a difficult test, for now, Liquid deserves to sit back and let the memes blaze on.
