There's always an added feeling of excitement when it comes to the historic matchup between Team SoloMid and Counter Logic Gaming, and rightfully so, as the two orgs have forged the oldest rivalry in the history of professional League of Legends.
Despite their competitive history, however, the outcomes of their more recent battles have been a little one-sided. And by “a little,” we really mean “a lot.”In fact, CLG hasn’t beaten TSM in a match since their victory over them in the 2016 NA LCS Spring Finals on April 17, 2016—almost three years ago. In Week Five, the teams continued that trend as CLG fell to TSM, bringing their all-time head-to-head game record to 45-18 in TSM’s favor.

The game started off with a bang in the bot lane as the duo of Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen and Andy “Smoothie” Ta secured firstblood for TSM off the back of a clutch Thresh hook from Smoothie. From there, TSM was able to snowball their lead bot lane so hard that Zven actually broke the all-time LCS record for highest total gold at fifteen-minutes with 8,188 gold in the bank.
CLG’s veteran top laner Darshan Upadhyaya was able to develop an impressive creep score lead over his opponent Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik despite being in a disadvantageous matchup. But before he could start affecting the map, TSM was already knocking on the doors of CLG’s base.
With this win, TSM extend their win-streak versus CLG to twelve matches in a row. Can it even be considered a rivalry at this point?
