Just before her official release, Riot Games revealed all the abilities of its newest League of Legends champion, Zeri, the Spark of Zaun. She will be live in patch 12.2, and her kit heavily revolves around movement speed and both damage types, ability power (AP) and attack damage (AD).

Fans got hints of her kit throughout the months leading up to her release, but now everyone has confirmation on the abilities, their names and her full kit.
Ability Breakdown
Passive: Living Battery
Zeri’s passive ability, Living Battery, focuses on both shields and movement speed. Firstly, anytime that she receives a shield, her movement speed increases. This would include shields from both items as well as allies’ abilities. Secondly, when Zeri damages an enemy that has a shield, she absorbs its energy and shields herself.
Of course, when shooting an enemy and absorbing her shield, that sets off her movement speed increase. As a bot laner, that means allies such as Rakan or Lux can use their shield not only to keep Zeri alive but to increase her movement speed and get out of bad situations faster. Even if you have a support who doesn’t shield, facing off against opponents who do can help you get the same effect.
Q: Burst Fire
Zeri’s Q ability, Burst Fire, has both a passive and active bonus. When first unlocking her Q, her basic attacks no longer focus on AD. Instead, these attacks change to magic damage, scale with AP, and count as an ability for item synergy. When moving and casting Burst Fire, that stores up energy within her Sparkpack. When that is fully charged, her next basic attack will slow and deal bonus damage.
The active bonus when casting Burst Fire is that Zeri shoots a burst of seven rounds that deal physical damage to the first enemy hit. Unlike her basic attacks, this active ability scales with AD and is treated as an attack, with the first round applying on-hit effects. Its cooldown matches with Zeri’s basic attack timer.
W: Ultrashock Laser
Zeri’s W ability, Ultrashock Laser, is a ranged slow. The electric burst fired from this ability slows and damages the first enemy hit, but has additional usage if it hits a wall. If this laser hits a wall, it fires a long-range laser from the point of impact.
For comparison, this is like Jinx’s Zap ability but has an extra effect if hitting a wall. The interactivity with the environment is similar to Bard’s Magical Journey, but a ranged slow instead of a tunnel.
E: Spark Surge
Zeri’s E ability, Spark Surge, is a dash that also buffs her. After dashing a short distance, this ability empowers her Burst Fire, allowing the rounds to pierce enemies. She will vault over or grind on any terrain she runs into with this dash, depending on the angle. Also, hitting a champion with any attack or ability reduces Spark Surge’s cooldown.
R: Lightning Crash
Zeri’s ultimate ability is Lightning Crash. When activated, she discharges a nova of electricity which damages nearby enemies and overcharges her for a short time. While overcharged, Zeri has increased damage for all abilities, higher attack speed and movement speed. Attacking enemy champions refreshes the duration of the overcharge and adds another stack of movement speed. Lastly, while overcharged, Burst Fire changes into a faster triple shot that chains lightning between enemies.
Zeri will arrive on live servers alongside patch 12.2, on Jan. 20, 2022.
