League of Legends Patch 12.7 shakes up MSI pro meta

Wukong and Pantheon are among the champions receiving sizeable buffs

League of Legends Patch 12.7 will go live on April 13, shaking up the pro meta in anticipation of the Mid-Season Invitational. The patch tackles many different areas with the aim of bringing some less-utilized champs back into the meta.

A few outlying over-tuned champions will also be nerfed in addition to some item and rune changes. Of course, there are also new skins with the Arcana line expanding to new champions.

The 12.7 changes mostly addressed under utilized champions, including Pantheon, Wukong, Yasuo, Yone, Neeko, Lilia, Karthus and Kalista. Some of these were more measured, like minor touches to Yas, Yone, Lilia and Karthus, which may be enough to see them become fringe pro play picks. Wukong and Pantheon, meanwhile, received substantial buffs, with Wu Kong’s gaining the ability to dash over terrain.

Gangplank and Gwen also received buffs, despite both champions already showing up in the pro meta despite not being highly prioritized picks.

Only Zeri and Lee Sin got nerfs in this patch. Arguably, Zeri’s nerf is more of a “change” that will now push players toward the crit builds instead of the on-hit build.

League of Legends Patch 12.7 items and runes

Four items will receive changes in League of Legends Patch 12.7. Galeforce will receive a cooldown increase to remove some power from hyper carries like Jinx and Aphelios. Also in the bot lane, Moonstone Renewer is getting a nerf to healing and shields. The third item nerf is Winter’s Approach, which was a bit too cost effective for mana-reliant tanks, according to the patch notes.

Only Umbral Glaive received buffs, but it also got a price decrease.

In terms of runes, Time Warp Tonic is being nerfed with decreased move speed and decreased amount of regeneration granted immediately. The purpose is to remove some survivability from squishy champions who are chugging potions to live through ganks and tower dives.

New skins in Patch 12.7

Finally, the patch will introduce new skins for a fan favorite skin line: Arcana. These are the champions receiving an Arcana skin.
