Ornn League of Legends patch 10.5

League of Legends patch 10.5 targets Ornn and Sett for nerfs

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

League of Legends patch 10.5 is now live on all servers. This week’s patch includes changes to a total of 14 champions. In addition to this, a total of four new skins will be available for purchase later in this update. The most anticipated changes are to champions such as Ornn and Sett, who currently reside at a 100% pick-ban rate globally in the professional scene.

Ornn is still the best champion in the game

Orn’s Living Forge passive received the following changes:

  • BRITTLE PROC DAMAGE 12-20.5% target’s maximum health (level 1-18) ⇒ 10-18% target’s maximum health (level 1-18)
  • MASTERWORK ITEM AUTO-UPGRADE Level 12 ⇒ Level 13
  • ALLY MASTERWORK UPGRADE AVAILABILITY Levels 13, 14, 15, 16 ⇒ Levels 14, 15, 16, 17

As mentioned in the patch 10.5 preview earlier this week, these changes are unlikely to affect Ornn’s popularity much. The delay of Ornn’s Masterwork upgrades might seem important on paper, but they really won’t affect his matchups too much in the top or mid lane. The changes are certain to reduce the win rate of Ornn on the ranked ladder. However, for the professional scene, Ornn’s role is effectively unchanged.

Sett is nerfed once again in League of Legends patch 10.5

Sett League of Legends

Sett’s base stats took another hit:

  • ARMOR 37 ⇒ 33
  • HEALTH REGEN 8 ⇒ 7
  • HEALTH REGEN GROWTH 0.75 ⇒ 0.5

Sett got nerfed repeatedly in recent updates, and these patch 10.5 changes will significantly reduce Sett’s power at all stages of the game. However, these nerfs are most impactful for Sett’s laning phase, between levels 1-8. This 10-12-minute period of the match was Sett’s main strength in the game.

After that, Sett usually falls off quite significantly in the majority of his matchups. We can expect that this change is the end of Sett’s popularity on the ranked ladder. However, for pro play, Sett might be around for a while longer due to the way he impacts the early-stage objectives.

In addition to the nerfs to several of Sett’s base values, his ultimate ability “The Show Stopper” has also changed, slightly. His location of impact of the Show Stopper previously slowed enemies by 99% for 1.5 seconds; now it’s only for 1 second.

Patch 10.4 Sona changes reverted

Sona League of Legends

For a short period between patch 10.3 and 10.4, Sona and Soraka were playable in the top lane role. After the hotfix in League of Legends patch 10.4, Sona is now back to her old state in patch 10.5. Now that the support items no longer work without an ally nearby, Sona is back to her supporting self in the bot lane.
