More about the League of Legends event

The tournament’s initial stage, the Play-In, take place in Ho Chi Minh City between May 1 and May 7. The next stage, the group stage, will occur in Hanoi from May 10 to May 14. Then the knockout stage and grand finals will play out in Taipei, from May 17 to May 19. Because of the death of former Vietnamese President Lê Đức Anh, Vietnam declared two days of official mourning that will take place between May 3 and 4. This event will be the only change in the schedule so far.

Winners of the two Play-In promotional matches and one from the elimination match will advance to the group stage. In the group stage, these three teams will face LEC’s G2 Esports from Europe, the LCK’s SKT T1 from Korea, and the LPL’s Invictus Gaming from China. The match consists of a double round robin format.

The ultimate winner of the tournament receives the usual trophy and recognition. Besides that, the teams that achieve the top four rankings also receive four seeds for their region in the 2019 World Championship Group Stage. This bonus was introduced in 2018.
