The final day of Week 5 in the 2022 LCS Summer split was way more hype than the first day. With a few upsets taking place, and a special guest on the broadcast, there were many hype moments to go over. Here is the Day 2 Week 5 LCS wrap-up.

Player of the Day: CLG Palafox

Although there were multiple mid laners who popped on Day 2 Week 5 of the 2022 LCS Summer split, none were more impressive than Counter Logic Gaming’s Cristian “Palafox” Palafox. Often forgotten about on this CLG team, Palafox went up against Team Liquid Honda and the greatest mid laner in LCS history Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and outclassed him. Palafox was near perfect on Azir; he was the X-factor in CLG’s upset over TL. Additionally, Palafox is now tied for second in player of the game honors out of the entire league.

Most Memorable moment: Bwipo’s broadcast talent

Next in our LCS wrap-up is a moment from outside the games. Following up last week’s successful experiment of having TSM’s Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon on the broadcast, the LCS decided to do it again with another top laner, this time with Team Liquid Honda’s Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau. Although it was a blast to see Huni on the broadcast in Week 4, just like play so far in the summer split, Bwipo had him beat. He was insightful on the analyst desk, he asked good questions in a post-game interview, and he was a fantastic compliment to the official cast during the 100 versus EG matchup. Bwipo is still playing the game at a high level but the LCS broadcast should be calling him when he eventually retires.

Best Clip: Bailing Out Abbedagge

In a critical team fight in the 100 Thieves versus Evil Geniuses match, 100 mid-laner Felix “Abbedagge” Braun didn’t connect his ultimate ability on Azir and the fight looked lost for 100 but thanks to Choi Huhi” Jae-hyun and the power of Renata Glasc, Abbedagge got bailed out, allowing him to secure the quadra kill on 100’s way to the win.
