The 2020 LCK season kicks off Feb. 5, but the Korean League giants have announced their schedule for the upcoming season. Worlds 2019 featured all three LCK teams up until the quarter-finals where Damwon Gaming and Griffin exited the competition. Three times World Champions, T1 faced defeat at the hands of G2Â at the semi-finals ending Korea’s hope at another Summoner’s Cup. With the 2020 LCK offseason springing up exits and new entrances, fans will have a drama-filled season.

T1 versus Damwon Gaming preview
The Spring Split begins with a best of three series between T1 and Damwon Gaming. Both of these teams were present at Worlds 2019 and made it far in the competition. Damwon even went from playoffs to beating Invictus Gaming in the group stage. T1 faced a rebrand not only in name but also in its management. Legendary coach, Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun left the Korean empire to begin a new adventure in China. Also, three of its main players headed out the door. So T1 will face Damwon Gaming with a mix of old and new players carried by Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok. The matchup between these two is a great way to kick off the LCK action, and T1 are favorites to win this series.
Gen.G versus Griffin preview
Another clash of titans in week one is the series between Gen.G and Griffin. Gen.G’s offseason was remarkable, and they won the offseason transfers award for the 2020 season. The organization brought in T1’s jungler, Kim “Clid” Tae-min, Kim “Rascal” Kwang-hee, Gwak “Bdd” Bo-Seong all on the same day. Griffin is fresh off their impressive world debut and made minor changes to their roster. They signed mid laner, Son “Ucal” Woo-hyeo. This series is a tough one to predict and may go down to the performance of individual players.
LCK 2020 Spring Split predictions
Even though the season is yet to start, a lot of momentum shifts towards teams like T1, Griffin, DragonX, Gen.G, Damwon, and recent KeSPA cup winners, Afreeca Freecs. Teams for the 2020 LCK season look more balanced, and for a team like Gen.G, if all players sync well regularly, they could turn up the heat in the LCK. However, T1’s Faker remains that team to beat despite significant changes.
