G2 Esports have reactivated Kenny “kennyS” Schrub for their roster for IEM Winter 2021 due to visa issues with their rifler and in-game leader Nemanja “nexa” Isaković. According to G2, these visa issues are preventing nexa from traveling to Europe, so kennyS will officially return to the roster for the first time since last playing in February of 2021.

With G2 Esports’ competitiveness in 2021 and reaching the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 finals, this sudden change forces the roster to adapt. Luckily enough, the team a player inactive on their roster who has helped them to multiple tournament wins since 2017. As an AWPer with a legendary status, the best highlights from kennyS’ time with G2 Esports include winning DreamHack Masters Malmö 2017, finishing first in Group C in the BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 regular season and second in the IEM Season XIV World Championship.
However, earlier in 2021, after some declining results, the G2 Esports team removed kennyS from the roster. At the time, the replacement for kennyS was current player Nikola “NiKo” Kovač. Now, after some promising growth, kennyS gets another chance to play.
The future of G2 Esports
For IEM Winter, G2 Esports are looking to win after just losing in the 2021 PGL Major.
After previously removing kennyS from the starting roster, G2 had started to perform more consistently in tournaments. Since that time, G2 have finished within the top four of CS:GO events ten times, including their recent finals appearance. Now, by moving kennyS back onto the roster, there remains the question of whether they can maintain their form.
If there is one thing that kennyS is known for, however, it is his skilled play across his entire CS:GO career. No matter what, this team will try their best to run it back to the finals.
