JUGi plays his first game on Astralis as gla1ve is out on medical leave

On May 19, we finally got a glimpse of Astralis’ seven-man rotating CSGO roster in effect. Following the recent addition of Jakob “JUGi” Hansen as the seventh team member, the Dane finally got his first playing time under the Astralis banner. Meanwhile, Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander has taken a medical leave, creating space for JUGi to fill his boots. JUGi’s first game saw Astralis take on Heroic at their opening match of DreamHack Masters Spring 2020.

Stress takes a toll on gla1ve’s well-being

According to the announcement posted by Astralis Group, the reason behind gla1ve’s medical leave lies behind the CSGO player “experiencing symptoms of stress and burnout”. The Astralis in-game leader may be out for as long as three months. He has said that he will be “focusing on getting better and recovering 100%” over the period of time.

Kasper Hvidt, the Director of Sports at Astralis Group, claims that there are many players stuck in a similar situation as gla1ve. Burnout and constant pressure at the highest level of CSGO can take a toll on one’s well-being. Astralis Group seems to understand that, and so they’ve expanded to the first-ever seven-man CSGO roster at the top-tier level.

JUGi makes his debut

Astralis ultimately won the derby against Heroic at DreamHack Masters Spring with a 2-0 win in the best-of-three matchup. Both maps were extremely tight, however. The first map went into overtime with Astralis clinching Train in the end at 19-16. Inferno, the second map, also nearly went into overtime. Heroic nearly pulled a comeback there, but they failed to do so in the end, losing the map at 16-14.

JUGi made his debut, but did not impress as much as others on the Astralis team. On Train, JUGi was falling behind his teammates and ended up bottom fragging. The newcomer improved on Inferno, finishing with a Rating 2.0 of 1.08 and in the middle of the table. Naturally, JUGi has only just joined the roster and will need more time to adjust to the team’s comprehensive tactics. It is JUGi’s time to shine, more than ever.
