This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

The Invictus Gaming team announced earlier today on Weibo that they have officially signed a new bot lane and head coach for the 2020 season. The new bot lane duo for Invictus Gaming is the old duo from Vici Gaming, Ding “Puff” Wang and Su “Southwind” Zhi-Lin. In addition, the former coach of SK Telecom, Kim “Fly” Sang-chul, is also signed to the roster going forward.

Coach Fly

Fly first started coaching back in July of 2013, when he coached both rosters of the Korean organization Jin Air. Through the years, he moved around between teams, including Royal Never Give Up for the 2016 season, Phoenix1 (Sentinels) in the NA LCS in 2017, and SK Telecom T1 during the 2019 season. Fly’s biggest accomplishment was just last year, when he brought the SK Telecom squad to back-to-back LCK playoffs victories.

The new duo of Invictus Gaming

IG’s new bot lane duo has created a lot of rumors since the initial announcement. Last month, Invictus marksman player Yu “Jackeylove” Wen-Bo left the roster, placing Wang “Baolan” Liu-Yi in a weird spot. To this day, Baolan remains with the IG roster and is contracted until after the 2021 season with the team. However, as a new bot lane duo has now been signed, it could mean that Baolan will leave the roster after all.

Overall, the new bot lane duo has quite a different playstyle than the IG bot lane of the past. Puff and Southwind are much less focused on being the main carries of the team, something Jackeylove and Baolan thrived at. We expect to know more about what the team will look like later today as the transfer season comes to an end.
