League of Legends
Call of Duty
One of the most highly anticipated updates for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone is here. Players of both titles have been waiting eagerly for this update due to the changes inside. Infinity Ward promised weapon balancing, new content for Season Four, and much more. It’s safe to say the meta of both Modern Warfare and Warzone has dramatically shifted. In the patch notes, there’s a huge round of nerfs to some of the most beloved weapons in the games. Let’s see what weapons changed and what content is arriving in Season Four.
The full patch notes for Modern Warfare’s new update
There’s a ton to unpack with the new update, but right off the bat, many players will wonder how big the file sizes are. According to Infinity Ward, owners of the full Modern Warfare game will have a 22-36 GB update to download. Free-to-play Warzone users will need to download a file of 22-30 GB. This is certainly a step up compared to other updates, but it’s still a tad large for a single update.
Now for the actual meat of the update. We’ll review all the major new Warzone content but won’t list every single patch note. If you wish to read the full list, you can visit Infinity Ward’s website.
As previously announced in the day, Warzone will now support up to 200 players per lobby. This is accompanied by the new “Quads 200” game mode along with a plethora of other standard modes. There are also new Gulag weapons, which include rifles, snipers, and a fists and throwing knife loadout. Infinity Ward additionally fixed a slew of bugs, including the notorious gas mask glitch.
Weapon balancing in Warzone and Modern Warfare
As promised, Infinity Ward also balanced a multitude of weapons in both titles. These changes affect both games, so if you only play Warzone, your favorite weapon might have gotten nerfed. Here are the major weapon changes in the June 29 update:
- Decreased damage range
- Decreased 10MM damage range
- Reduced long-range damage to 10MM ammo
- Slight recoil increase to 10MM ammo
- Grau 5.56
- Damage range reduction
- Slight increase to high-frequency recoil
- Reduced recoil compensation and decreased range on Tempus 26.4” Archangel and FSS 20.8” Nexus barrels
- No stock attachment:
- Increased weapon recoil
- Decreased ADS aiming steadiness
- AX-50: Increased damage range
- HDR: Guaranteed one-hit to lower torso at any range
Obviously, the MP5 and Grau 5.56 were the two most popular weapons in Warzone. However, the MP5 is the go-to weapon for aggressive players in Modern Warfare. This new update has nerfed both guns into the ground, and we should see a new meta arise as a result.
