Directly invited teams

Three teams had already qualified directly for the event even before 2020 started. Due to an updated set of rules by the ESL (Pro Tour), mousesports, Fnatic, and Astralis automatically qualified for the huge event by winning ESL Pro League, IEM Beijing-Haidan, and DreamHack Malmo respectively in 2019.

Now, ESL has announced all of the officially invited teams for the event. These include 100 Thieves, Evil Geniuses, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Na’Vi, the new Virtus.pro, Vitality, and Team Liquid. The list is more than impressive, with many top-tier teams attending the Katowice event. It will feature the current top five in the world, according to HLTV rankings.

The ten invited teams already make for an impressive list, and the event will definitely be one to watch in 2020.

Six qualifier spots up for grabs

Apart from the invited teams, there are still six slots to be filled before the event commences in late February.

Three EU Qualifier spots are open, with FaZe, G2, and ENCE headlining the EU Qualifier list. MiBR will have to face Cloud9, FURIA, and Complexity to qualify from the North America Qualifier, which only has one spot at Katowice for the taking.

FaZe CSGO
Marcelo “coldzera” David and FaZe will be one of the favorites to qualify for the event in Poland from EU.

TYLOO are the definite favorites from the Asia Closed Qualifier for the event. Lastly, for the one and only Oceania region spot, most people would likely bet money on the new Renegades roster making it to Spodek Arena.

The $500,000 event in Katowice, Poland runs from Feb. 28 until Mar. 1 at the Spodek Arena, like every year. It is part of the CSGO Intel Grand Slam.
