This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

If you are sick of playing competitive, Spike Rush, and Deathmatch in Valorant, you’re in luck. The new Valorant Snowball Fight game mode is now live (after some slight delays) and offers players a different way to play the game.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new seasonal game mode, including how to play it and how long it will be around.

How to play Snowball Fight

Snowball Fight is a 5v5 deathmatch game mode where players get to use a weapon to fire snowballs at one another. Each snowball is a projectile with a travel time and an arc. Players will get infinite ammo when it comes to snowballs. The objective is to “kill” opponents with them.

In addition to these snowballs, there will be “presents” around the map that give certain powerups. These gifts spawn randomly and give players certain upgrades. Here are the following upgrades players can get:

  • Rapid Fire: Players can fire snowballs faster
  • Growball: Snowballs will grow over time while traveling in the air
  • Ricochet: Lets players shoot snowball trick shots off the ground and walls
  • Skates: Players skate around faster and jump higher

You can also get a powerup by killing an enemy with a powerup, they will drop the powerup on the ground and you can pick it up. Remember that if you die, you will give your opponent the powerup as well.

The game mode won’t last forever

Snowball Fight is a seasonal event game mode and it’s only going to be around until December 29. After that, it will leave the rotation, likely until next winter. So, if you want a chance to play it, make sure you get on and give it a try soon!

Hopefully, this isn’t the first or last seasonal event game mode we will see in Valorant. There are plenty of opportunities for experimentation, and Riot will likely explore more options like this in the future if Valorant Snowball Fight proves to be popular.
