The Dog Bone is a new item that was added to Call of Duty MW3 Zombies with the Season 1 update back in December. The item spawns in a friendly Hellhound that will fight alongside you against zombies, making it a fairly powerful consumable no matter what zone you’re in on Urzikstan. However, finding the Dog Bone Schematic in Zombies is a different story, as it’s incredibly rare.
Just like the other Season 1 items, the Dog Bone is a part of the “Classified” tab in the Schematics menu of Zombies. These items are separate from the other legendary plans, such as the Ray Gun Case. As such, they require a different method to find, and it’s one that requires hard work and a ton of luck.

Getting the Dog Bone Schematic in MW3 Zombies
There is a fair bit you need to do before you even get the chance to start looking for the Dog Bone Schematic. Here’s a list of the steps you need to complete to unlock the ability to find the schematic:
- Complete the Bad Signal mission in Act 4 of Zombies
- Find the Dog Collar, Locked Diary, Pill Bottle, and Surveillance Camera
- Place all four items on the pedestals outside of the Dark Aether Rift
- Defeat the Mega Abomination and use an Elder Sigil on the Dark Aether Rift
- Enter Tier 4 inside the Dark Aether
- Complete Contracts inside the Tier 4 version of the Dark Aether
- Search Reward Rifts until you find the Dog Bone Schematic
That was a fairly rudimentary rundown of the process to enter the Dark Aether. You need to complete all of those steps to enter the toughest version of the Dark Aether and unlock the ability to complete contracts inside of the location. It’s only by completing these specific contracts that you can potentially find the Dog Bone Schematic in Zombies.

It will likely take you hours to get lucky and find the Dog Bone, but it could also take you no time at all if the RNG is on your side. I highly recommend entering Tier 4 of the Dark Aether with a party, though, as completing the contracts solo can be a nightmare.
