The second Tera-Type event for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is here, focusing on Dragon Tera-Type Charizard. Much like the previous event with Tera-Type Eevees, this means Charizard will have a higher chance to appear in Tera Raid Battles. However, this time you can specifically hunt for this very powerful battle to try and go for one of the classic powerful Pokémon in the franchise.

Charizard gets their spotlight in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

As is standard in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Tera Raid battles are highlighted on the map by the color of their Pokémon type. However, this time around, be wary of the black-colored Tera Raid battles. Their crystals will look different than a Dark-Type Tera Raid battle, more ominous to the casual fan. Finding one of these during events like these essentially confirms you’ve found the Pokémon you’re looking for.

But be careful. This battle is harder than even some of the gym, base or Titan fights from the game. You can do this Tera Raid battle both online and offline, either with friends or by yourself.

For those who don’t know, Charizard is a Pokémon you can’t normally get in Paldea. As one of the oldest and strongest Pokémon, he is only available for a limited time, starting on Dec. 1, and stretching to Dec. 4. But, that isn’t the only time, returning from Dec. 15-18. Just like the previous Eevee spotlight, it goes from 7 PM EST on the launch day to 6:59 PM EST on the final day.

Charizard might return in the future

In terms of other important info on this Charizard event, all Charizards will have the same moves, ability and mark no matter what. Plus, this catch is limited to one per save file, making it a bit rarer and impossible to grind a lot of copies of. Yet, the Pokémon team made sure to say that this will not be the only way to get Charizard in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Last but not least, to be able to join the event, just make sure you have downloaded the most recent Poké Portal News. Connection to the internet should lead to receiving this update automatically.
