In the Hisui region of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players had the opportunity to obtain Darkrai as long as they had an existing save file for either Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl. Now, a new event will allow trainers to encounter the Mythical Dark-type Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl themselves.

With a new update on the way for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, there are opportunities to catch more Pokémon, including Arceus. Here’s how and when trainers will be able to catch a Darkrai in the Sinnoh region.

Obtaining the Member Card

Like with Arceus, access to Darkrai in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is locked behind a key item. In this case, that item is the Member Card, which trainers can receive through the games’ online Mystery Gift function.

The Member Card will be “available between the new moons.” According to Serebii, this means the event will run from April 1-30. As a result, trainers will have one month to claim it before they miss the opportunity to receive the Member Card and encounter Darkrai.

As with Arceus’ Azure Flute, trainers are only eligible to receive the Member Card if they meet certain prerequisites. They must have beaten the Elite Four, entered the Hall of Fame and obtained the National Pokédex. Any players who have already completed the main story of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl can get their Member Card right away on April 1.

How to get Darkrai in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Upon obtaining a Member Card, trainers will gain access to a new location in Sinnoh known as Newmoon Island. At Newmoon Island, trainers will encounter a level 50 Darkrai that they will then have the opportunity to capture.

Come April, the Pitch-Black Pokémon will finally be readily available in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl versions. This will be the third official Mythical Pokémon event for these games in recent months, following those for Shaymin and Arceus.
