Excited customers expected a much better experience after shelling out $60 for the highly-anticipated game. PS4 and Xbox One players didn’t expect Cyberpunk 2077‘s poor performance and low graphics quality upon release. The game has indicated several bugs and issues that have frustrated players, leading them to ask for a complete refund of their purchase.

CD Projekt Red released a Twitter statement apologizing for the overall horrible experience, offering them options to refund their game. The developer has recommended that players who purchased digital copies of the game to use the refund programs on the PlayStation and Xbox stores. The other option is to ask their retailer for a refund of their physical copy.

If you purchased your digital copy from the PlayStation Store:

PS4 and PS5 players can request refunds for digital games on the official site. As of December 17, Sony has begun to offer full refunds for copies of Cyberpunk purchased through the PlayStation store. The game has also been removed from the store due to a high volume of complaints and issues. According to the website’s official message, PlayStation will begin processing the refund upon confirmation of purchase.

If you purchased your digital copy from Xbox:

Players who purchased Cyberpunk digitally on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or Xbox Series S can request a digital refund on the Xbox Support website. Similar to PlayStation’s policy, digital Xbox games are only eligible for a refund within two weeks of purchase, and a refund request won’t guarantee a refund.

If you purchased your digital copy via the Steam marketplace:

Those who have purchased a PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 via steam can request a refund from Steam Support. Players can request a refund if the game was purchased within 14 days and has been played for less than two hours. Although this is their official policy, Steam may consider a request even if it falls outside those rules. It never hurts to try!

Getting a Cyberpunk 2077 refund from GameStop:

Players who purchased their copy of Cyberpunk 2077 from Gamestop can return a game within 30 days of purchase. The store will also give customers a full refund if it’s in its original packaging. However, once the customer opens the game, they’ll have seven days to make their return either online or in person.

Returning a game via Amazon:

Video games purchased via Amazon can be returned for a full refund within 30 days of purchase, although games that have been opened or played may incur a restocking fee.

Returning a game via Best Buy:

Best Buy’s return policy notes “Purchases made October 13, 2020 through January 2, 2021 have an extended return period through January 16, 2021.” This policy is applicable to all products not including cellular devices or holiday products.
