Teamfight Tactics is finally introducing its newest Origin: Hextech. Riot Whale announced the coming of the new Origin.
The Hextech Origin is confirmed to include Camille, Jayce, Vi, and Jinx. Champion abilities and “exact functionality” of the Hextech trait are not finalized. However, the trait is currently supposed to temporarily disable enemy items.
- Tier: 1 Cost
- Class: Blademaster
- Ability: Hextech Ultimatum: Camille roots and damages her current target. Any allies that can attack the rooted target will switch focus to the rooted target.
- Tier: 2 Cost
- Class: Shapeshifter
- Ability: Thundering Blow + Transform Mercury Cannon: Jayce knocks his target back and switches to a ranged champion. For the next few attacks, Jayce has the maximum attack speed.
- Tier: 3 Cost
- Class: Brawler
- Ability: Assault and Battery: Vi will target the farthest enemy away and charge them. During her charge, Vi will knock all other enemies aside and deal extra damage to her target upon impact.
- Tier: 4 Cost
- Class: Gunslinger
- Ability: Get Excited: Jinx gains bonuses after getting takedowns on enemy champions. After her first takedown, Jinx gains bonus attack speed. After her second takedown, she begins to use Fishbones. Fishbones deals area-of-effect damage on each auto-attack.
Camille’s ability has the biggest potential for backfiring out of her Hextech counterparts. Upon activation, all allies will switch their target to Camille’s rooted target if they are able to attack them. This may frustrate players if their other champions stop attacking a low-health or -priority target. Additionally, frustration will increase more if the rooted target is a low-damage tank unit that is not a priority.
Jayce isn’t the first shapeshifter that changes their attack style, but he can uniquely send a front-line tank to the backline. This allows allies to focus on higher priority targets.He currently has a low mana cost of 50.
Currently, the “dive” mechanic is monopolized by assassins. Now a Brawler champion will gain the ability to jump to the backline after a short delay. Hextech Vi will benefit from extra hit points (if the Brawler trait is active) and be able to survive longer in the backline. Furthermore, she is able to deal significant damage to a single target in the backline.
Finally, there is Jinx, who relies on early takedowns so that she may pull out Fishbones as soon as possible. If Jinx is able to use Fishbones during a fight with the Hextech and Gunslinger bonuses active, she will wreak havoc. She will benefit from fast attack speeds and bonus targets. The bonus targets will suffer from the Hextech ability (disabling items) and the area-of-effect damage from Fishbones.
