Play of the decade contest

With 2020 upon us, the Counter-Strike devs on Twitter decided it would be fun to let the community vote on the best play of the decade. Initially, anyone could submit any outrageous, skillful, or lucky play. In the end, the most popular submissions were selected and put together in polls for the community to vote on. Lots of popular plays made it to the top 8, including Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer Gustafsson’s infamous boost on Overpass and Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev’s insane double no-scope with the AWP. However, in the end there could be only one winner.

Happy1’s Inferno deagle ace vs. TSM

Happy1’s (part of Envy squad) incredible play on Inferno during DreamHack Open London in 2015 versus TSM comes out on top as the best CSGO play of the decade. The play showcases Happy1 taking on the whole of TSM with only a Desert Eagle on the end of banana at bombsite B. The Frenchman singlehandedly takes out the whole of the terrorist team. The play in itself is incredible, but there’s one more detail that makes the play even better. The opposing team featured the trio of current Astralis players Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, Nicolau “device” Reedtz, and Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth. Additionally, Rene “cajunb” Borg and Finn “karrigan” Andersen were also part of the team. Keeping that in mind, the stunning play becomes even more enjoyable to watch. You can check out the ace.

The matchup between Envy and TSM was the grand finale of the event that saw the French side take home the trophy after a 2-0 victory on Dust2 and Inferno. Kenny “kennyS” Schrub took home the MVP despite Happy1 going down in CSGO history for providing the fans with such a play.
